Pokrasso Class

Here are a couple of Mono types with Chine` Collage` that I learned how to do in the Ron Prokrasso Class I took last week.
Very interesting technique and new way (for me) to put images and paint to paper.
I learned how to lay water compatible Akua intaglio inks onto an acrylic plate and run through a press with added collage pieces within the same printing process.
Unfortunately, now I want a press.  Always something new out there to lust after.
These two images were done from the same original plate.  The colors are much lighter after the first run through the press so then you take that "ghost " ink and rework it with more ink into another print.
I have tried for a long time to get some good photos of crows but have only finally come up with these two images and one other that I also used in another print, on my phone camera. Go Figure!  Had to photo shop them just a bit and then sent them to my friend who printed them onto mulberry paper for me.  The tree image I printed myself on rice paper which crinkled up in my printer, thus the blank streaks which absolutely made the image work for me.  Talk about your happy accidents; Or as Pokrasso calls them "gifts".  Either way, works for me!

Oh Tonya, I can relate when you say you want a press. I had the opportunity to work with two Tamarind Master Printers, Joy Percival Baker and Lyn Elton Baker. Got to be good friends with Lyn and I made monoprints for a period. So much fun. That was a quite a few years ago, but the experience was so rewarding and I learned quite a bit about print making. I was amazed at all the neat things you could do with a press. Your two pieces are absolutely stunning!

These are great, Tonya. My main focus in college was printmaking and I never had the opportunity to do anything like this. It looks like a really interesting process. I know what you mean about wanting a press, but alas who can afford one?

As for crow photos, I think every cemetery I've ever walked in had crows hopping around. Maybe that would be a good spot to get some nice shots...

Wonderful work. I would love to try printing too. So many things to try...

Akiko, these are done from a 12"X16" acrylic plate on a half sheet of Arches 88 paper which would be 15X22 roughly. I am also enamored with your beautiful raven paintings.

Stan, sounds wonderful! Wish I had gotten into it earlier. So much fun. Thanks for the compliment!

Hey Don, yes, they are expensive! Pokrasso did show us how to do hand pulled prints which worked out really well actually so may try that. There are pictures in my picasa albums that can be reached by clicking on the slide show on my front page that show how he sets that up.

Thanks Leslie, I know what you mean. So many great mediums and techniques and art supplies, so little time and money! LOL!

I am very jealous-- I love Ron Prokasso's work and would love to take one of his workshops-- looks like you learned a lot and these two prints look great--

Hi Donna, yes, it was a great class and I thoroughly enjoyed learning the process. Pokrasso has a very easy going manner and is a patient and enthusiastic instructor.
I have no doubt he would become a devoted admirer of your work as well, if he isn't already.

A very handsome pair, and confirms what I already knew in that previous post: you know exactly what you're doing and why. One of the best things about doing your own thing is that you're the world's #1 authority on it! No critique necessary. More cool work.
