Birth of Venus as a Camel?

I think with a shell under her... Okay, maybe it just felt like a birthing!  It's not always easy to make an image in stamp or print form, at least for me.  There are just so many ways you could go with the design.
This is the same camel that I used for the monoprint with the camel.  I liked her pose.  I have other camel images I am working with from different views.  This image is 5.25".

Here is a view of the stamps themselves and the image test page.  I thought these smaller camels in a
line would make good design pattern elements that could be versatile.

I just love this camel--she's being very modest-- and the design is beautiful.

I spent a lot of time sculpting but have not yet tried carving stamps or making prints. I have supplies someplace and it's on my list of things to try.

There is so much variety in your work.

This takes me back to my linoleum block-printing days. I can almost smell that unique linoleum smell... These camels are really cool. I look forward to seeing how you use them in a finished piece.

Hi Hallie, I think that is one of the appealing things of carving stamps, it is very sculptural in process. The thinking is not three dimensional though and it's backwards! LOL!

AK, yes, It is especially all over the place lately. My art imitates my life pretty much. I wake up often wondering "where the heck am I?" On so many levels. I figure if I just keep making stuff everything will eventually smooth out. It does keep me fairly sane as well.

Don, I keep thinking I should do these on Linoleum so they would be more permanent and durable but I do love the ease of carving and also the versatility of the usage. I can actually print these on a curved surface! Um, ... can't think of a single example right now... but I do love multi purpose tools! LOL!

Hi Tonya,
What and interesting choice of subjects! I like the head on view of the camel; it's not one I usually see. I can easily imagine these camels waltzing across a wonderful textured, collaged, abstracted, etheral...ok, all sorts of grounds.

Hmmm, inspiring!

Thanks Peggy, I was trying to do something fresh in the way of a camel image, something I hadn't see done already. Camel images have been created for so long, though, I doubt there is an angle that hasn't been already done! LOL! Wish I could have seen a little film of what went through your mind when you were writing the "Camels waltzing..." part!
