Well, I spent most of yesterday uploading pictures and filling out online forms to enter The Woodlands Waterway Show. I entered in Oil and Watercolor. These are just a couple of examples of what I entered in each catagory that I entered. Thanks to my friends Jan and Sharon for helping me get the photos taken and edited in photoshop! Jan is becoming quite the photoshop wizard! Wish me luck! Cheers, Tonya

Tuesday I painted with The Woodlands Art league at a "pumpkin patch" that the Methodist church had set up in their courtyard. It was quite inspiring. Here is what I started and the photo of what I was painting from. I met a new friend at the Market Street show, Kim Carlton, who told me about the paintouts and invited me to join. It was really fun and there are some very good painters that participate. I think I will probably learn some things!
Kim and some of the others work in oils in an ala prima style which is something I would love to learn to do. I just ordered the Richard Schmidt book, 'Ala Prima, Everything I know about painting', which just came out in paperback. The hard back version is 75 dollars and this new version is much more afordable. I love his work and am excited to get the book.
I have worked in oils a lot but have done the old master's technique of transparent glazing that I learned from Patricia Whitty. It is a very beautiful technique and I do like the result but it is very labor intensive and time consuming and I think it would be fun to finish a painting in a sitting so that you could travel and do oil instead of just watercolor.

I picked up my roster for the bead class coming up on October 21 and I have two spots open for any late comers. It is a very fun class but of course you are learing a lot from 9 am to 4 pm so you will be mentally tired...but it's a lot of fun. You will love it, I promise! cheers, Tonya
Oh, geez! Today I just didn't get much material stuff done but was busy all day as usual! What is it with that? You want to get so much done and then you spend time on the computer trying to look things up that will help you in some way and the next thing you know, it's 3 in the afternoon! I really dislike that! I love to have things done that I can see. I have some fabulous ideas for some paintings that I can't wait to get down on paper and also some wonderful opportunities for my lampwork bead jewelry and hair orniments that I need to get done and presented. I am very excited about that! Also got a call from a very funny and nice lady (a contact from the art show last weekend) about some portraits of her three children that might be in the works. I love painting children and these would be in oil, which is even more fun! Can't wait. Hope you are having an inspired and artfilled day! Love and Cheers, Tonya
