Can't get past the beginning!

This is a small 9X9 oil study of my grandson Griffin, on linen.  Strangely enough, I have had trouble moving on with this as I love it just the way it is.  I had such a different vision of how it would end up but I just really like the image as is.  I am thinking maybe I will just leave it alone and start over with the same format and then move on with that....  The reason I started with the red background is that the photo
I'm working from had the backlight of the sun making his ear light up with the translucent red that I find so appealing.

Hi Trudy! Thanks! I have been to your blog lately and am loving your new works. I love the child/circus/ mystery series you have been working on. I miss you guys and the critique group at Polly Hammett's. Such a loss that she is moving away from Houston as we will also lose Virginia Cobb visiting us during allergy season in Santa Fe. Thanks for stopping by!

Hi Tonya,
No doubt about it! Go with your feelings and keep it as is.
You'll probably regret anything else you do to this charming work.
Stay well and enjoy the holidays.
One of my favorite navy memories is being in Bahrain over Christmas.
We'd flown the navy CNO there during his final trip to support his sailors during the holidays.
Deciding to have pizza for dinner, I called Pizza Hut and ordered a couple of large pizzas, one, with sausage and green peppers.
The voice on the other end of the line rather curtly said, "No sausage!"
It suddenly dawned on me where we were! "Oops! Sorry!" was my response. The pizza was still quite delicious and was, no pun intended, a little slice of home for us.
Sincerely,
Gary.

Gary, thanks! My son is in the Navy. Just made Chief. We are very proud of him. We are also very proud of the 5th fleet that is here on guard in Bahrain.Sorry you had to settle for pizza as there is such a great array of of fabulous food here! No complaints about the food for sure. You can even get "real" sausage in some places! Thank you for your service! Thanks for visiting my blog.
Cheers, tonya
